i know this is supposed to be a photoblog from taiwan, but i haven't done much travelling recently, so here are a few shots from a quick and short trip to the land of the rising sun back in april...
have you ever played baseball when you were 10 years old? it's the most boring thing in the world.... it's the only sport that's just as enjoyable to listen to on the radio than to watch on tv. it's very popular in japan, just like in taiwan. if you have kids though, i recommend you give them a soccer ball (a football) or a basketball... pretty much any other ball :-)
japanese are perhaps the most creative people on earth (i guess any nation that reaches a high enough standard of living is bound to produce more artistic geniuses). a street performance in shinjuku.
time travelling in a quiet neighborhood (forgot the name, near the french institute). thanks to francis (my local guide).
more time travel. an old man riding a bike near ueno station.
my last day in japan. spent the afternoon in ueno park.
some celebrations in ameyoko, (maybe vesak?)...
waiting for prince charming in kabukicho...
these clubs cater to lonely/bored/excitement and entertainment seeking women (of all ages it seemed) where they can be treated like a lady (whatever that exactly means :)...) by young good looking men, all (and i mean all) wearing pointy shoes (is it still called a witch boot if a man wears it?)...
a felt like a tramp in my shorts and t-shirt and flip flops, with my $3 haircut...
busy intersection by shinjuku station...
these guys were from a sumo school apparently... they were very friendly luckily, i would not have wanted to get into a fight with any of them...
i definitely miss the great food, the high quality ingredients (even at the smallest food stalls) but i sure was happy to return to taiwanese prices after one week :-)
